Finally Some Rain

Posted on 18th April 2012 in Environment, Home and Garden, weather

We have had the most wonderful weather for long now. Unfortunately the need for rain has been great, so great that there has been a lot of fires just over the mountain. Some days you can look out and ever so faintly see the smoke that is continuing to billow from all of the wild fires going on over there.

So to wake up to a nice steady rain is a good thing today. Usually the rain depresses me and makes many of my bones ache but today is a good day all the way around. The lawn and the garden sure could use a nice soaking right now. There has been talk of water restrictions being put in place all ready and it is only April for heaven’s sake.

Fresh Vegies Traded For Clean Pool Privaleges

Posted on 16th February 2012 in Entertainment/Fun, Food, Home and Garden, Sports, weather

The stores are starting to put out all of the items that are needed for our spring work and our summer fun in the sun. The patio furniture, garden supplies, lawn mowers, flip flops and pool accessories are lining the shelves just begging us, the consumers, to start digging in our wallets and dishing out the bucks on all of things that we have become famous for buying this time of the year.

My neighbors are getting anxious just waiting for this warm weather that we have been experiencing this winter, to get just a bit warmer and they can start getting their pool supplies in order and ready for all the water activities that having a backyard pool can bring to friends and family members. I’m so glad that I’m on good terms with both neighbors on both sides of my place and that I have an open invite to go over and enjoy a dip in either one of their pools, or a whole afternoon if I please to. They get to deal with all of the various pool supply issues while I just get to enjoy the feel of the nice clean water that they are so careful to get with all of the pool filters and pool chemicals that they have to buy each year.

While I in return turn them on to all the goodies that I grow in my wonderful vegetable garden in my back yard. So it works out very well for all concerned.

Bad puppy

Posted on 23rd January 2012 in Friends/Family, Life

My sister asked me to puppy sit her pug today while she ran some errands. She was expecting a repairman to come to her place to fix her kitchen sink and she didn’t want the puppy bothering the repairman. I said sure, bring the pup on over and set up the baby gates to keep the puppy in the kitchen, with my two dogs, thinking that they would play happily together. Well, that pug puppy decided he was not willing to stay in the kitchen and jumped over the baby gate! I have had dogs much larger than that pug for over thirty years and never once have any of them even thought about jumping over the baby gate!

I put the puppy back in the kitchen and told him to stay there. Within seconds, back over the gate again! At that point I just put him outside in the back yard to let him run around. The yard is fenced in and I was confident that since the fence is six feet tall that he would not be able to jump over that!
