New Bathroom Tiles

Posted on 3rd April 2012 in Home and Garden, Home Improvement, Internet, work

I have to admit that the website MetalStainlessSteelTiles.com has some really nice mosaic metal tiles that would look good as the bathroom back-splashes in my parents master bathroom that they are getting ready to tear apart and completely re do in the very near future. They are having to make that bathroom easier for the two of them to get around in, complete with a new hot tub spa that is handicap accessible for my dad to use to get in and out of with little or no effort.

They want this new bathroom to be easy to keep clean as well. So I believe having this nicely decorative metal tile will help in that area, it is easy to clean and it will help brighten it up as well. I’m sure I’ll be assisting my Dad with some of the work that this will all take, but I don’t mind. I rather enjoy working along side my Dad, we don’t get to spend as much time together as I’d like and we get along famously so I look forward times such as this to hand with him when I can.

Guard your cash closely

Posted on 28th March 2012 in Friends/Family, Life, Money/Finances, Opinion, work

During the past week I’ve heard of two incidences of family members losing cash and it drives me crazy. My own mother mailed cash to one of my nephews in a birthday card, and the birthday card was never received. What drives me crazy about this instance is that she has done this before and lost the cash, and we had a long talk about how she should never put cash in the mail. And to top it off, she has seen my nephew several times recently and she could have simply handed him the birthday card instead of putting it in the mailbox.

The second instance is when my niece left her rent money, which was in cash, in her purse at work. The employees have to share lockers, so several people had access to her purse during the day. Her money went missing, and so she claims that she has no rent money. I cannot understand for the life of me why anyone would leave large amounts of cash in a shared locker at work. Why she did not keep the money in her pocket, or in her locked car stashed under the seat or in the trunk or glove box I have no idea at all. It was hard biting my tongue on that one, I’ll tell you that!

A new patio

Posted on 18th March 2012 in Business, Home and Garden, Life, work

One of the things that keeps me busy during the “slow season” is taking on a fence or patio installation. I usually only have the time to do one or two of those types of jobs a year, but they are good money when I get them, so I’m always happy to oblige when I get a call from a customer.

Ellen Alexander asked me to give her an estimate on the price of installing a new patio in her back yard. She had been given my name and telephone number from her friend Louise Wadleigh She needs to have an area cleared and levelled first, and then a base layer of gravel hauled in. She wants a path from the patio going through the woods down toward the lake. She also wants to have a second patio built down by the lake. She is trying to decide whether or not to install a gazebo down by the lake, and whether to have it screened in or with combination windows/screens. She wants to include a barbecue pit or a fire pit as well. She really has not made up her mind on that one.

She wants to have me do the landscape lighting installation going from the patio down along the pathway on both sides all the way down to the lake. I plan to take some brochures with me to her place that show a variety of options for the lighting and the patio pavers that I think will be in her price range.

Servers

Posted on 8th March 2012 in Business, Technology/Gadgets, work

It seems as if the whole world comes to a screeching halt when the Server that allows you access to the World Wide Web has stopped working. I’m so grateful for our IT folks at work that are in charge of all the computers that keep the place running and alive. I’ve tried a couple times to get some of their home numbers so that I could call and ask for their assistance if I needed it for my home computer, they just laugh it off and keep doing what they do to keep us in the Clouds.

Good Weather Is Speading Up Construction Schedules

Posted on 8th March 2012 in Entertainment/Fun, Opinion, Sports, weather, work

It looks like the park/playground down the road, that has been under construction for the last 7 or 8 months, but is ahead of schedule due to the extreme warm winter weather that we have been blessed with this year, is almost ready to be opened and enjoyed by so many kids, family and people of all ages, race and gender. They have really done a great job with the new landscaping, Picnic Tables, playground equipment, water fountains, Park Benches, rest rooms and various other items that has made this grand opening so exciting for so many people in the neighborhood.

They have even made a BMX bike trail for the kids to have a safe place to ride their bikes and to jump hills and fly off of  ramps, and all the other tricks that kids do today on their bikes. They even had some Bleachers put up for the parents and other spectators to sit on while the kids enjoy all that this new and improved neighborhood park has to offer us all now.

Their next project is expected to be a place for folks to bring their dogs and let them run and play, which has worked wonderfully in other areas and there is a great need for places such as this everywhere. So it’s all good.
