The heat is on

Today I was watching a television news show and the reporter was saying that during this primary season there has been a huge increase in negative advertising pitting one primary candidate against the other. If I recall correctly the reporter indicated that in the last Presidential election only 6% of the commercials were negative against the other primary candidate, but in this year’s election the rate is over 50%. I’m thinking maybe it was 56%, but I’m really not sure if I remember that correctly or not. What I’m thinking is this – if so much of the campaign is negative NOW, what in the world is it going to be like when the primaries are over and it is one one one between the official candidates. Well, at least I can say that it was not just in my head, I was thinking that the negative campaigning was worse than before, and it seems that I was right.

Politics as usual

My family always gets very invested in the presidential election. They watch every debate, following through all of the primaries, and we have very spirited discussions about the candidates and their views. Most of my family generally votes the opposite party that I vote, so I try to keep a low profile so as to avoid the temper tantrums that some people in the family have. Others in the family are not as mindful of keeping the peace, and often will wear their favorite political candidate’s advertising products on their body.

I can remember the last presidential election there was a big spirited discussion when my brother-in-law wore a ron paul shirt to the family Thanksgiving dinner. I’m not sure if the high emotions amuse me or scare me, but one thing is for certain, my family takes their politics very seriously and if you do not support their candidate of choice you can be deluged with muck raking information about your own candidate. I’m always glad when the elections are over!

I understand the trickle down concept now!

Get over it already!

Posted on 20th April 2009 in Internet, Life, News, Opinion, Politics

I was reading an article about how important it seems to be to a lot of people to define Barack Obama as half-white OR half-black or all black or bi-racial or whatever. What is IS is a very well educated political leader that has been elected to be the next President of the United States. The color of his skin should not make any difference. The races mixed in his blood should make no difference. What he SAYS and what he DOES SHOULD make a lot of difference. So I think we should all just get over this debate and wish him luck in fixing this country’s troubles, because he is going to need all the luck he can get!
