Frozen Pizza

Posted on 3rd May 2012 in Food, Money/Finances, Opinion

I am a pizza fan. I could eat pepperoni pizza, seven days a week. It used to be that pizza was a cheap meal but those days seemed to be long gone. So it is nice to see the pizza wars that are going on with the several large pizza chains that are here in town.

As far a frozen pizza goes, you just don’t want to go there!

Wish List

Posted on 12th April 2012 in Home and Garden, Internet, Money/Finances, Shopping

Well it seems that the wife has all ready made her wish list up in anticipation of our tax return check this year. She is wanting to find some cream comforter sets to use in our guest room, as well as a daisy bedspread for our daughter’s room. The only thing on her list that I really think she needs is the decorative wall mounted coat racks that we found online a few months back that we just haven’t ordered yet, so when we do get the money in the bank I guess we will go ahead and place the order.

I guess I really need to buckle down and get all the paperwork done and get our taxes filed since we only have a few days left to do it in. I really hate doing our taxes and each year I seem to procrastinate right up to the deadline which really drives the wife crazy. I guess it all stems back to the day when I knew I had to send a check in and didn’t want to part with my money until the very last moment.

Guard your cash closely

Posted on 28th March 2012 in Friends/Family, Life, Money/Finances, Opinion, work

During the past week I’ve heard of two incidences of family members losing cash and it drives me crazy. My own mother mailed cash to one of my nephews in a birthday card, and the birthday card was never received. What drives me crazy about this instance is that she has done this before and lost the cash, and we had a long talk about how she should never put cash in the mail. And to top it off, she has seen my nephew several times recently and she could have simply handed him the birthday card instead of putting it in the mailbox.

The second instance is when my niece left her rent money, which was in cash, in her purse at work. The employees have to share lockers, so several people had access to her purse during the day. Her money went missing, and so she claims that she has no rent money. I cannot understand for the life of me why anyone would leave large amounts of cash in a shared locker at work. Why she did not keep the money in her pocket, or in her locked car stashed under the seat or in the trunk or glove box I have no idea at all. It was hard biting my tongue on that one, I’ll tell you that!

Sterling or gold

Posted on 22nd March 2012 in Life, Money/Finances, Opinion, Shopping

The rising price of gold bullion is making gold jewelry almost too expensive to buy anymore. I’m seeing more and more sterling silver being used and sold. I understand the reasons for that, sterling is very pretty and is less expensive than gold, but silver tarnishes and gold doesn’t. When I look at sterling silver jewelry I am always cautious about what should be done to prevent tarnishing.

Tide on the black market

Posted on 19th March 2012 in Business, Life, Money/Finances, News, Opinion, Shopping

This past week I’ve seen a couple of articles about the laundry detergent, Tide, is becoming a popular item to be shoplifted and sold on the black market. I stopped buying Tide for the most part a couple of years ago because the price has increased steadily over the years and it has simply gotten too expensive unless I have coupons to use. But I have to wonder exactly how it is that the shoplifters are getting away with stealing it? The Tide bottles are really quite large. Are they putting them on the bottom rack of their shopping carts and then just walking out the door? I’ve read that some stores are starting to put anti-theft devices on their bottles of Tide. I think that is amazing!
