Coast

A trip to the coast is always a fun time.  Today will be the last one of the season.  My friends and I are gearing up to take the bikes down.  We will mostly likely grab a bit to eat at the local seafood restaurant.

This restaurant always had good food.  They have tables overlooking the bay which adds to the relaxing environment.  We may encounter some heavy traffic in the way home since it is the start of leaf peeping season.

Foliage

The fall foliage has started.  This time of year is by far my favorite.  The weather is much cooler and more comfortable.  The best part of this year is going to be the use of my new tractor to clean up the yard.

There is always a ton of work to do in the fall at my house.  Cleaning up the garden, home repairs and lawn maintenance all has to be done.  I am going to try to plan a fall trip with Janice as well to go check out the leaves.  As much work as they are it is worth it because they are so beautiful.

Labor Day

Posted on 2nd September 2011 in Entertainment and Fun, Food, Friends and Family, Life

One of my least favorite holidays is the Labor Day weekend.  When I was a child I disliked it because that meant summer vacation was over and we had to go back to school.  I did not like school.  I did not like having to haul lots of the books from class to class and I hated having to do homework. I don’t think that I would have hated it quite so much if the teachers had let us keep a set of books home so that we would not have to lug heavy backpacks back and forth.

This Labor Day weekend, though, should be a good weekend because I have been invited to and a barbecue party at Tyler’s beach house. I understand that Tyler and Amy put on a great barbecue so I am looking forward to having a good time. Although I am saddened by the end of summer at least my days of carrying the backpacks to school are finished.

Solitaire

My dad taught me how to play various solitaire games. We used a deck of cards and there were different ways to deal out the hand and set some cards aside or order them that made for game variations.

Now with the use of computers, I’ve discovered there are many other types of solitaire games that have nothing to do with a deck of cards. You can use tiles and play majong. You can use beads and play Bejeweled. And there are dozens of video games of all types that let you play by yourself.

Balloon Festival

This weekend is the annual balloon festival.  This festival is a great opportunity to get out with friends and have some tasty food.  I will be heading out to see the evening launch with some friends and their significant others.

I plan on eating a dough boy and sausage sub for dinner.  There is nothing quite like fresh fried dough.  Proceeds always go to charities so it is a win- win situation.  Perhaps I will take a ride in a balloon this evening and watch the sunset.
