Bike Ride

Posted on 3rd April 2012 in Entertainment/Fun, Friends/Family, Life, weather

Last Saturday a group of my friends and I spent the day cruising the roads on our bikes. We had been planning this outing since last winter, and it finally came to fruition. There were about fifteen of us on our Harleys, and we all had our ladies riding behind. We rode for a few hours and stopped at a roadside diner for lunch, and then rode home again using a different route. It was a beautiful day for a ride, and we all had a great time. I hope we can do this again next summer too!

Teen rated video game

Posted on 3rd April 2012 in Entertainment/Fun, Friends/Family, Life, Opinion, Shopping

Sandra was telling me that her ten year old son has asked her if he could use his allowance money to buy a video game called Uncharted 3. She asked me if I had ever heard of the game, or played it myself. I told her that I have not played that game before, but heard that it is a Teen rated game, so I would encourage her to steer him in a different direction at this point in time. I know that there are a lot of parents that let their pre-teens play Teen rated games, but I think that it is a mistake.

Womens lingerie

Posted on 3rd April 2012 in Entertainment/Fun, Life, Shopping

I laughed out loud when I was watching television last night. I think that it was a preview for a Law and Order television show, I’m really not sure. Maybe it was a preview for Bones. I watched both of them last night while I was washing up the supper dishes and sorting through the mail. Anyway, the preview was of two of the detectives searching the cab of a tractor-trailer and one of them found a piece of womens lingerie in the back. They held up the lingerie with what looked like a pencil (so as to not get their fingerprints on it) and said something to the effect that they might find some useful evidence of a victim on the lingerie. That’s when the truck driver, who was a big burly man claimed that the lingerie was his, and pulled down his trousers a little bit so you could see the ribbons and bows on his underwear. Didn’t I laugh!

The new timeline

Have you converted your Facebook page to the new timeline yet? I have been resisting the change; I really did not want to bother trying to learn something new AGAIN. Generally speaking I am usually accepting of change, but to be perfectly honest when I was looking at my friend’s pages that had already converted I found the new format to be confusing. To be honest, I still DO think that it is confusing. I suppose I’ll get used to it, but it is definitely going to take a while before I’m comfortable with it. A lot of my friends have been complaining that they don’t like it, but then again several say that they like it just fine; it reminds them of the “MySpace” pages. I never had a MySpace page, I guess that I never felt “self-important” enough to crow about me online. I only signed up for Facebook as a way to keep in touch with several of my friends, since they never seem to send individual emails.

Reliving prom a little with my daughter

Guest post written by Donna Reins

I realize that I’m way past the age to care about prom dress shopping, but I like to put myself in my prom-going shoes to help my daughter some. Prom is a much bigger deal now than it was back when I was in high school. I guess that I shouldn’t be that surprised about it because there are so many things that are made specifically about prom and TV and movies make it into a much bigger deal than back in my day. It gets me a little excited too so I’m having a lot of fun helping her pick out all kinds of prom stuff.

I’ve been doing a fair amount of research to help her pick out some prom trends for this year and when I was doing that I saw some bankrupt alternatives online. I hadn’t been looking for them, but I thought that I could really use them with all of my credit card debt, so I’m going to check them out.

I’ve already seen all types of gorgeous dresses, but I’m really supportive of a cocktail length dress and awesome shoes instead of a floor length gown. I think that the shorter dresses tend to cost a little less anyway.
