I was surprised earlier today when my wife pulled out three “empty” bottles of Gold Bond hand lotion (the pump style) and cut them open with a knife. I asked “what in the world are you doing?” She replied “salvaging hand lotion. There’s a lot of lotion left in these bottles!” She ended up getting about eight ounces of lotion out of the bottles! She used a rubber cooking spatula to scoop out the lotion and transferred the lotion into four empty night cream jars she had been saving.

I was so impressed by how much lotion she salvaged from being thrown away! That is a lesson I’ve learned today – when you think your pump bottle of something is empty, there really is a lot left – you can cut it open and transfer the contents to a jar and use it up! It may not seem like a lot at the time, but it adds up!

I was beginning to think that winter was never going to leave, and spring would never arrive! But today IS the first day of spring! Finally! Time to put away the snow shovels, snow blowers, snowmobile, and tune up the lawn mowers and jet ski! I’m looking forward to having some fun in the sun and water this summer! Welcome spring – you were a long time coming this year!

Tonight we’re going to eat out – one of my favorite chain restaurants – Applebee’s. A lot of people look down their noses at Applebee’s , but I really like their barbeque riblets a lot. In fact, when I go to Applebee’s, if they tell me they are sold out of their riblets, I don’t order something else, I leave the restaurant and go eat somewhere else! So, I look forward to the chance to eat there when I can! We’re going to try to get there as close to 5pm as possible, to beat the big dinner crowd.

Daylight Savings Time begins today. I set the clocks back last night before I went to bed. I really wish that the country would just pick one time and stick to it! This business about “Spring Ahead and Fall Back” is just really hard for my poor body to adapt to! I really don’t like the changing back and forth at all! And I’ve heard that recent research suggests that even though the reason for doing the changing is to save energy costs, which have not happened. The energy costs in the summer have actually increased due to Daylight Savings time, not decreased.

I heard on the radio this morning that Volkswagen is planning to release at the end of 2010 a two-seater car that gets 234 mpg! I tried googling it on the Internet, but can’t find any information on it at all, which is discouraging because I love to look up stuff like that! Anyway, according to what I heard on the radio, it is an extra small car, the two seats are lined up one behind the other to improve the air dynamics. I’d love more information on that! I wonder how much trunk room there is for groceries!?????
